When you traveling in the Icelandic highlands it is important to have a good map.

Up in the Icelandic highlands it may not be an option to use online maps such as Google Maps due to high data roaming prices or slow or non-existent data connection when you need to find the place you are going to. One way to get around this to use off line maps on your tablet or smart phone.Having a good map in your phone can save you a lot of trouble if you wander off the trail or if you get caught in fog.

Great maps have helped me to find places such as this wonderful waterfall, Hengifoss  in the East of Iceland.

Hengifos is is about one hour hike from the main road as you can see on the screen shot below.

Landmannalaugar is a must place to visit.

Another place I love is Landmannalaugar where there are fantastic mountain trails in all directions.

I love to save my trails, take pictures and brag to my friends on where I have been.

I hope that you will be inspired to visit Iceland and find the great places it has. See you!
