See the natural wonders of the Golden Circle

The Golden Circle takes you from Reykjavik to the following unique Icelandic destinations:

Man at Thingvellir
This could be you.

Thingvellir is sacred ground with a dark history

Thingvellir National Park has two main attractions. This UNESCO World Heritage Site reveals a massive crack in the surface of the Earths. It is a place where you can see the American d and Eurasian tectonic plates pull away from each other. In the process, the volcanic island of Iceland is slowly being torn apart. Thingvellir is also the site of the Icelandic parliament, which was founded in 930AD. It has a pretty dark history, so it is a fascinating place on its own.

The Icelandic geysir strokkur erupts
Strokkur struts its stuff.

Gushing geysers

Visit the home of the legendary geyser, Geysir! This giant geyser has been quiet for a long time, but no matter. Its neighbor Strokkur erupts quite impressively every few minutes. Its discharge reaches up to a whopping 30 meters (100 feet).

The Icelandic waterfall Gullfoss seen from above.
Gullfoss is massive.

The beautiful Gullfoss waterfall

The wonderful Gullfoss waterfall is the last stop on the Golden Circle Classic tour. Its frigid water from Langjökull glacier thunders down 30 meters in a vast canyon. It is probably one of the most photogenic places in Iceland. In winter, I recommend you have crampons on and respect the markings at the waterfall. It is for your safety.

People in the Sky Lagoon spa in Iceland.
Enjoying life to the fullest at the Sky Lagoon.

Soak in the epic Sky Lagoon

I am a massive fan of the Sky Lagoon, this gem of a spa. The design of the lagoon is just incredible. I love the infinity pool with the beautiful seaside view, the waterfall, and the seven-step ritual, which will leave you so fresh and relaxed. And did I mention you can get cocktails and cold beer right there in the lagoon? Perfection!
