Thank you! ❤️ Jon Heidar, Editor of Stuck in Iceland Travel MagazineLooking for a top-rated relaxation experience in Iceland? Soak in the soothing geothermal waters of Krauma Spa and Baths, a spa gem just an hour’s drive from Reykjavík. This stylish spa is the huge Deildartunguhver hot spring. This monster is Europe’s most powerful hot spring and is worth visiting as a stand-alone stopping point. I will revisit Krauma next summer since my wife and I will spend time in neighboring Reykholt. Relaxing at Krauma is always such a lovely experience.
I am delighted to call Krauma my partner. Subscribe to Stuck in Iceland Travel Magazine and receive a 10% discount code on the admission ticket.
1. The perfect blend of nature and comfort
Unlike many geothermal spas in Iceland that dilute their waters, Krauma’s pools are naturally heated by Deildartunguhver’s powerful hot spring. To create the ideal soaking temperature, the scalding hot spring water is mixed with pristine glacial water The result? Pure, mineral-rich geothermal bathing at the perfect warmth.
2. Five Geothermal pools and a cold plunge
Krauma offers five relaxing geothermal pools with different temperatures, so you can find the one that’s just right for you—feeling brave? Take a dip in the refreshing cold bath—a true Icelandic wellness tradition that boosts circulation and energizes you. My wife loves the cold plunge. However, I believe humans should stay as far away from freezing water as possible.
3. Steam baths and a cozy relaxation room
Need to de-stress? Step into one of Krauma’s steam baths, where the natural heat from Deildartunguhver helps detoxify your skin and relax your muscles. Afterward, unwind in the relaxation room, where a crackling fireplace and panoramic views of the Icelandic countryside create the perfect peaceful atmosphere. The relaxation room with the fireplace is my absolute favorite of the experience.
4. A Restaurant with a view
After soaking, treat yourself to a delicious meal at Krauma’s restaurant, which focuses on fresh, local Icelandic ingredients. Whether you’re stopping for a full meal or just a coffee and dessert, the view of the rolling Borgarfjörður countryside is worth it.
