I must confess that I am a little bit of an adrenaline-hound. Therefore, I love ATV and buggy adventures in Iceland. There is just something so cool about dressing up in the suit, putting on the big helmet, and feeling the engine respond as you rev it up. There is a little caveat here: I am a terrible driver, but that has not stopped me from having fun on ATVs. So if I can do it, you can too. Therefore, I am very proud to be a partner with Safari Quads, Iceland’s oldest ATV Quad and Buggy tour company. Just like all of my partners, they are a top-quality operator. Don’t take my word for it; look at their reviews. Their sales Manager is Bryndís Fossdal, and she agreed to talk to me about the joy of tackling tough terrain while enjoying beautiful sights.

Hey Bryndís, thanks for agreeing to the interview. Can you give my readers a little background information about you?

Thank you for the opportunity. I’m excited to be part of this interview. To give readers a little background. I’m Icelandic, but I grew up abroad, meaning that sometimes I feel like a traveler in my own home country.

However, over the years of moving back, I’ve had the privilege of working with Safari Quads and getting the chance to explore Iceland and see most of the country both on our incredible ATV tours and on my own. Not to mention seeing an active volcano with my own eyes (I have to say that is one of the most incredible natural wonders I have witnessed).

I’m an enthusiast about Hot springs, and I have probably visited most of them In Iceland. I am also very passionate about traveling both locally as well as abroad, exploring new cultures, and trying to do as much of it as I can.

For how long have you been with Safari Quads, what brought you to the company originally?

I have been with Safari Quads for about 8 years – it’s family by now, and I’m truly lucky to be able to work for a great company with even better coworkers. The work spirit and communication are just something special, and I do get to do what I love daily: to help people explore Iceland.

Thinking back, what brought me to Safari Quads – well, first of all, who would not want to work for the best ATV company in Iceland?

Safari Quads is a well-known company with over 20 years of experience in the offroading business here in Iceland, and I knew being a part of the team would let me grow and learn.

What is your favorite tour with Safari Quads?

That’s a tough one, as all our tours offer something unique, but if I had to choose, I’d say my favorite is the 2-hour Twin Peaks. It combines the thrill of quad biking with some of the most breathtaking landscapes we visit. The route takes us through mountain yards near Reykjavik with beautiful views from the tops and then a stunning drive by the Hafrawater Lake before heading to the hills of Hellisheiði, where the view of the Hengill volcanic area is incredible. It’s a perfect blend of excitement and natural beauty, which is why it’s my favorite tour.

What are your favorite activities and places in Iceland?

Hands down, there are the hot springs all around Iceland. Of course, there are plenty of well-known and popular hot springs, but there are also some secret ones – I think my favorite ones are the ones with the hardest hike.

I would also say that Kleifarvatn Lake is a unique spot to visit when in Iceland, It is extremely beautiful, and there is the Indian head cave by the beach.

What advice do you have for those visiting Iceland for the first time?

My best advice for first-time visitors to Iceland is to embrace the unpredictability of the weather and take your time exploring. Iceland’s landscapes are truly unique, from glaciers and waterfalls to volcanoes and hot springs, so make sure to pack layers and be prepared for changing conditions. Rent a car if you can, as it gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, but always check road conditions, especially in winter. Don’t miss out on the natural wonders like the Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle, and the Northern Lights if you’re visiting in the right season, but also take time to explore the local cuisine and city of Reykjavik. Icelanders are very friendly.

Most importantly, take your time to enjoy.
