Heartfelt messages about Iceland

I pondered how to engage my readers with this necklace. A newsletter competition seemed ideal: ask subscribers why they love Iceland, and the best response wins the necklace. Little did I expect the flood of heartfelt messages describing their affection for my country. Choosing a winner became a delightful challenge! Reading these messages, I realized they could inspire others, and to my surprise, everyone was happy to share their love for Iceland. A heartfelt thank you to all who shared their affection. In case you missed it, here is the first love letter to Iceland I published. Here’s a batch of love letters to Iceland:

Icelandic waterfalls are my favorite

The reason I love Iceland so much is that it is unique. I have visited five times, and I love the people, I adore the scenery, waterfalls are my favorite, but also whale-watching, the peace of the countryside, the geysers, hot bubbling mud pools, hot streams, and seals, all are lovely, Jokulsarlon, Strokkur, Vatnajokull, and Skogafoss are my Southern Iceland fave’s. Puffins and Djupivogur are my Eastern Iceland faves. Dettifoss, whale watching at Husavik, and Akureyri are my Northern Iceland fave, and Arnastapi, Olafsvik, and Kirkjufell are my Eastern Iceland favorites. And Reykjavik is a buzzing capital for all to enjoy.

That is why I love Iceland.

thanks

John

Trying our luck with the northern lights

Our family is visiting Iceland for the first time in January! We have decided to visit Iceland to see amazing waterfalls, explore an ice cave, relax in the Blue Lagoon, try some new foods and with a little luck, see the Northern Lights!

We can’t wait for our upcoming Icelandic adventure!

No more beautiful place to celebrate a birthday

I and my fiancée have visited Iceland 3 times in the past 12 months, last September for my 59th birthday,in march and just had 2 weeks road trip around the island for my 60th. We couldn’t think of a more beautiful place to celebrate my 60th, the natural beauty the vast ever changing landscapes the whole island is like being on a different planet, we fell in love with 🇮🇸 on our first visit it’s was so overwhelming and has been on our other visits and will be on our future visits ❤️

My favorite place away from home

Hello Stuck in Iceland,
What’s not to love about Iceland? It’s my favorite place away from home. The alien landscape that entices, the great people and sense of community, the jumping sheep, the fantastic food.

The water

Hot springs: Husavik sunset for an hour overlooking the fjord from Geosea, swimming after dark in Vik during a snow storm, going from hot pools to freezing sea at Hvammsvik in morning before anyone else arrives.

The light

On our first trip to Iceland my mother and I drove north, not realizing the Dec road conditions in the mountains. Coming out of a white out it was silence and the sky was purple. The whole world was awash in violet light. The best.

Love, A

Missing the ever changing weather

Clean, fresh water I can drink from the streams

BUT most of all I love Iceland because I icelanders protect Iceland so fiercely and that’s never changed.  I’m planning my 20th trip to Iceland now.

Oh Iceland where do I begin? I loved the wildness, remoteness, the amazing power of nature.

Not to mention the friendliness of the people, the delicious soups, ice creams & the quicky coffee bus.

Strangely one of the things I really miss is the ever-changing weather. We never knew what it was going to throw at us next, hail, snow, wind & rain.

Iceland, the country that we visited on a whim & my soul has craved for ever since. Can’t wait to be back in 2024!

Julie

Iceland has always been a place of awe and wonder, having the magnificent Northern Lights, but whag truly captured me were the exquisite landscapes and majestic mountains, volcanoes and glaciers. Being an environmentalist by profession, this unique country offers so much in biodiversity, resilience and sheer beauty.

What to do in an Icelandic forest?

We first visited Oct 21 and fell in the love immediately. The dramatic scenery from green fields to mountains to glaciers and in some parts thinking you could be on the moon. We loved it so much and after being together for 30 years we got married in Sept 22 to celebrate and then hopped on a plane to Iceland and had our wedding photos taken here so dramatic and beautiful.

Wet wedding suit at Reynisfjara beach

Almost drowned at Renisfjara beach, the photographer missed timed luckily it was nearing the end of a perfect day so final couple of snaps are wet wedding dress and suit and beaming smiles. Amazing friendly people and wonderful hospitality always something to see and do. A wonderful way of life how you are all connected to the land and just being outdoors in such a spectacular place. Favourite joke what do you do if get lost in an Icelandic forest. Stand up.

The land of ice and fire is our happy place and stole our hearts. We cannot wait to come back.

Visiting Iceland is a life changing experience

I want participate to the competition. I was fascinated of what I saw on pictures & videos of Iceland and that was the reason for my trip end of may / beginning of june this year.

It was a life changing experience, exploring the beautiful landscapes and nature. I struggle with PTSD but my Iceland adventure helped me well to move better forward and found my self new again.

It would be a great memory of my life changing expierience.
